The Blue Pillow

** I’m not promoting any specific brand - just an idea you might find useful **

I use this pillow in my desk chair and in many of my mat classes.

It’s a 13” wobbly balance stability disc. It can take about 500 pounds of load - and is infinitly useful in facilitate feedback and engagement of muscles.

In my office chair, I prop it behind my lumbar to encourage a tilt in my pelvis that makes sitting so much more comfortable.

If my calves or hamstrings are cranky, I put it under my toes and sink my heels to the ground. I also use it with a teen client who is trying to reduce their toe walking.

In my Pilates mat classes, I use it in place of small arc, barrel, or spine corrector.

When lying on the floor (supine), under the hips so that the shoulders and head are engaged with the mat.

  • to train the hips to lift up - which will help them go into Roll over, Corkscrew, Jackknife

  • to provide more feedback or to help facilitate an ab series

Under one foot or hand when lunging, squatting, planking to create a point of imbalance.

And…. they are inexpensive. I’ve seen them on range from $12 (on sale) to $24. You don’t need a brand name.

Most include their own pump, so you can make it as full or as squishy as you want. It’s your body and one size does not fit all.
